American Humane Association
The American Humane Association, founded in 1877, is the oldest national organization dedicated to protecting both animals and children from abuse, neglect and exploitation. It develops policies, legislation, curricula and professional training programs for those involved in animal and child welfare, and it raises awareness about the human-animal bond and The Link® between animal abuse and other forms of violence. Its Los Angeles office is the exclusive authority behind the "No Animals Were Harmed"® certification on film and TV productions, and its Washington office is an advocate for animal and child protection at the federal and state levels.
The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals®
Since the ASPCA's founding as America's first animal welfare organization in 1866, ending cruelty has been its primary goal. The ASPCA has the experience, programs, people and prominence to build a better future for all companion animals. The ASPCA's ongoing national leadership in the fight to prevent cruelty and find permanent, loving homes for America's adoptable pets is supported by more than 1,000,000 members and donors from across the United States.
American Veterinary Medical Association
The American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) was established in 1863, and today represents more than 74,000 veterinarians working in private and corporate practice, government, industry, academia, and uniformed services. The association's dual mission is to improve animal and human health as well as to advance the science and art of veterinary medicine, including its relationship to public health, biological science and agriculture. Its programs include Veterinary Medical Assistance Teams, which are mobilized to help animals affected by disasters. The association is the profession's authorized voice for presenting its views to government, academia, agriculture, pet owners, the media and other concerned publics.
Earthwatch Institute
Earthwatch Institute is an international nonprofit organization that involves volunteers from all over the world in conserving our planet and the diversity of life it supports. As an Earthwatch volunteer, you help make a real difference in the world. You can monitor meerkats in the Kalahari, measure whale sharks off Australia, tag sea turtles on Costa Rican beaches, or help out with more than 100 other research projects. Earthwatch expeditions offer you the opportunity to personally work with animals in the wild, meet people from different cultures, explore places off the tourist track, and have a great time while making a difference in the world.
Humane Society of the United States
The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) is the nation's largest animal protection organization, and a powerful mainstream voice for animals. The HSUS protects all animals, with active programs in disaster preparedness, wildlife and habitat protection, marine mammals, animals in research, equine protection, farm animal welfare and companion animals. The society combats cruelty on many fronts. It also celebrates the animals who share our world, and our homes. One signature goal is to give pet owners the tools they need to keep their pets as happy members of their families, for a lifetime. The HSUS is based in Washington, D.C., with field representatives and offices across the country.
National Wildlife Federation

With tens of thousands of young people in almost 100 countries, the Roots & Shoots network branches out across the globe, connecting youth who share a common desire to help make our world a better place. This powerful, youth network fosters a fun, flexible and supportive environment where young people and adults alike come together to share ideas and inspiration, implement successful community service projects and participate in special events and global campaigns.
World Wildlife Fund
World Wildlife Fund (WWF) is the largest conservation organization in the world. For 45 years, WWF has worked to save endangered species, protect endangered habitats, and address global threats such as deforestation, overfishing, and climate change. Known worldwide by its panda logo, WWF works in 100 countries on more than 2,000 conservation programs. WWF has 1.2 million members in the United States and nearly 5 million supporters worldwide.
